Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), also known as ubiquinone, is a naturally occurring enzyme primarily present in the mitochondria and is involved in cellular respiration and energy production. It is found in all human cells, with higher concentrations found in the liver, kidney, heart, and pancreas.
CoQ10 may be beneficial for some people as nutritional support for health while living with migraine. Studies on 300mg of CoQ10 a day over three months showed positive impact compared to placebo. CoQ10 is not easily absorbed, but taking it with healthy fats such as nuts, seeds, and healthy oils considerably increases absorption. The dosage of 300mg can be taken once daily or split between three capsules throughout the day to maximize absorption.
